Archibald H. Lowery Residence (84)

K Street and Vermont Avenue, NW
Constructed 1875-76, demolished 1936

Archibald Lowery, a real estate developer, built this house as his own residence, but the architect is unknown. Described by James Goode as "the most refined and cohesive Second Empire house in the city", its architectural details are reminiscent of other Cluss houses from the 1860s and 1870s. In the neighborhood, Cluss designed many other buildings.
