Seaton School (58)
I Street between Second and Third streets, NWConstructed in 1871, demolished 1969
Seaton School was erected in 1871 near Judiciary Square in the populous second school district. Intended as a prototypical neighborhood school, the ten-classroom building design is simplified while incorporating the essential programmatic features earlier introduced by Cluss. A single-sex school for boys, the interior arrangements are less elaborate than those in the earlier schools. One of Cluss's sons attended this school.
